On this beautiful June morning, I am sitting in my chair at the top of the hill, facing the cornfield behind my home. The soft morning breeze ruffles the leaves on the corn, as the sun touches them, making them wink at me, first light green now dark. I am practicing mindfulness, being in the moment…so I try to distinguish each of the birds as they sing out with the shear joy of being a live. Listening to the amazing variety of trills and tweets, each bird sure of their place in the world. I am training myself to be present. I listen carefully so I can greet each bird, thanking them for adding to the loveliness of the day. A little green bug lands on my chair, walks around for a time then launches himself into the air. Thank you for visiting. The birds flit and float, dart and dive across the field, now landing on a bush in the distance, now on one of the branches near me. The cacophony continues and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be here, on the edge of the cornfield, enjoying this lovely day. A butterfly joins me, gracefully landing on the leaves in front of me. And so, the day begins.
LIVING JOYOUSLY TIP FOR THE DAY:
Make yourself a sanctuary where you can relax and just be present in the moment. And breath.
