It may be no surprise to you that we influence our surroundings — affecting others in both positive and negative ways. What is surprising, though, is that it has been found that we are affected by the happiness of people three points removed from us. That’s the friend of a friend of a friend. This validates the fact that we can affect everything in our lives, from how a meeting proceeds to the ambiance of our homes and families at the end of a very long and difficult day.
When you think about it, even thought is energy (no pun intended). Our thoughts are “a powerful creative force extending from our bodies, out to others and the universe, affecting every aspect of our lives, and relationships” (Mindful Loving). We are participating in creation. We have the power to think carefully and reevaluate every thought, every action we take. We can no longer consider ourselves separate, powerless victims. We can change your thoughts and create our own reality. No thought is idle.
So, be careful what you think about
Just imagine…what our world could look like if everyone truly believed this and used their power, their energy to “continually create peace and joy in every relationship?” Now THERE’s a thought.
So as we start this New Year, we might want to resolve to choose our thoughts carefully. Not only do thoughts direct our actions, but we become that which we think about.
Living Joyously Tip for the Day:
Think joy, think connection, live joyously!
